In Project Publish, Touchstone Books, an imprint of publishing company Simon & Schuster, Inc., teamed up with Media Predict to create an exciting contest. On Oct. 9, Touchstone Books selected one book proposal from our site for future publication.
What is Project Publish?
Via Project Publish, Touchstone Books was the first major publisher to put our market-based method for evaluating media content to the test. Earlier this month, a team of editors, including Touchstone publisher Mark Gompertz, evaluated the 50 top scoring book proposals on Media Predict. They selected five book proposals as Project Publish finalists, and eventually one grand prize winner.
The finalists were announced the week of September 17, 2007. Trading in the five finalist proposals continued until October 9, when the winning proposal was announced.
All proposals that appeared on the Media Predict site between our launch and the announcement of finalists in September were eligible for Project Publish. Over the coming months, we added new submissions to the site on a regular basis. Submissions for Project Publish came from both the general public as well as from literary agencies.
“Media Predict and Project Publish is an intriguing new way to evaluate content for publication,” said Mark Gompertz, Executive Vice President and Publisher of Touchstone Fireside. “It is the ultimate pre-publication, market-based focus group. I look forward to following the market closely once trading gets underway and using their lead to invest in a project for publication by Touchstone.”
