What does Media Predict do?

Media Predict rates media content. We do so with prediction markets, and we believe our method may well be more effective than any other available today.

Although sometimes media companies sometimes find hits, historically most media products lose money or fail to find an audience. At the same time media companies often overlook valuable content: few within media predicted the success of Nirvana, American Idol, The Harry Potter Series, The Lovely Bones, or even Star Wars.

Media Predict uses prediction markets to identify media products worthy of investment and development. Prediction markets have an astonishing record of success in forecasting economic indicators, election results, sales levels and more. Our markets help media companies put out better content, which means better media for everyone.

What types of markets do you run?

Media Predict runs two kinds of markets. Most markets evaluate works about to be released by major media companies. Some promotional markets evaluate works in development, such as a book proposal, an unsigned band, or a pilot for a television series.

Ultimately it’s our goal at Media Predict to persuade media companies to let markets guide every step of the media selection process. Simply, markets are usually right, and traditional methods are often wrong. The more media companies trust our prediction markets, the more they’ll invest in content people really want.

Does Media Predict involve real money?

No. Internet gambling is illegal in the U.S. Media Predict is strictly a fantasy-money prediction exchange. When you sign up, we provide you with $5,000 in fake currency. It has no real-world value, and cannot be used for exchange, barter, or any transaction of value whatsoever. Our currency is used strictly for game purposes on our site.

That doesn’t mean you can’t benefit by being a good Media Predictor. Within the coming year, we plan to introduce prize schemes, so you may be able to win free music or books if you perform well on Media Predict.

Will you offer real-money markets in the future?

We are investigating the possibility of a real-money prediction exchange. More information on our plans will be available in the coming months.

How do I update my screen name?

To change the default name (y27cjd14 or a734ydd) provided for you when you signed up, simply navigate to the settings page located in the upper right corner.

   Simply pick a new nickname for display on Media Predict and click “submit”.

Can you alert me to new markets?

To set up alerts, which let you know when new markets are available, navigate to the alerts page. Then, you can set up automatic emails by clicking on the “alerts” section of the Settings page.

The purpose of the alerts is to let you know when new markets are open for trading.
